So, we’re in escrow! And on November 18, 2009, the seller will graciously give us the keys to our first house. Shawn is having difficulty sleeping @ night, b/c he’s mapping out all the renovations in his mind.
Typical me, I’m all about decorating and cooking/baking, entertaining. I’m dreaming about the warm glow of a happy home, our friends and family gathered around a table speckled with delicious homemade goodies, the clitter-clatter of toasting glasses and laughter filling the air. Back to reality….
The place needs some attention.
We’ve gotta clean it up, rip out the filthy burnt orange 70’s shag carpet and paint the downstairs. The upstairs will get some focus once we’ve got the first floor set up.
This is my favourite time of year. The weather has cooled and autumn is here. Halloween is looming, then Thanksgiving and Christmas. I’m itching to decorate and warm up the place.

*Tipi and pond in the backyard
*Shoji screen to dress up boring closet doors
*Pot-bellied stove to warm up the living room
*Black/white London bath
*Pepper tree Schinus molle

Yes, you can live in SoCal and keep a live chocolate tree alive, even if you’re me.
I’ve done my research, people. Here’s what the li’l bugger needs:

– 80 inches of rain (courtesy of Glendale Water & Power)
– Shade
– High humidity (gotta add greenhouse to my Wish List!)
