My li’l sidekick advising me on the post |
I’ve been very busy…most importantly with the li’l person sitting on my lap as I type now. My days are a happy blur of bottles, diapers, giggles.
As our baby grows, I see she’s a new life full of
promise for a better future. I often wonder what she’ll do as an adult.
Will she be an engineer or a vet? Will she help abolish pollution or cancer
or childhood hunger?
We all want a better planet, but as parents, we feel the real responsibility
in securing a healthy future for our li’l ones.
That includes teaching her how the simple pleasure of good food bonds
family & friends.
Today began with the unavoidable craving for Nina Mama’s butter cookies. My grandmother used to make these in a simple sheet pan. Then once cooled, she’d cut them into beautiful diamonds. I finally gave in and made a mad dash to the kitchen to try my hand at the recipe.
My goal was always the same: Just how many could I stuff into my mouth before they cooled?
Now, it’s your turn! Here’s how:
3 sticks butter
4 egg yolks
1 c sugar
3.5 c flour
vanilla
1hr @ 350*F
Make them, take a pic, send it to me, but most importantly, see how many you can stuff into your mouth!
Oh and don’t waste those 4 egg whites. Make indi pavlovas with them. Think of the exhausted hens that had to make those eggs!
